The Mediterranean Sea — Sea of the seas
Every year millions of Sun-hungry tourists, among them flock also innumerable divers, on the coasts and on the islands of the Mediterranean. This hour-long traffic jams clogged highways as well as waiting times at airports are taken to our House sea or even the “mare nostrum” How’s the Romans called to get.
But the Mediterranean is not everywhere equal to Mediterranean, it includes an enormous variety, what probably is the appeal of this sea. The “a” Mediterranean is it not, but rather many different “seas” with all its variety of landscapes, scenes, cultures, languages and religions.
If the ferocity of long rock coasts with tiny, embedded between rock Cape beaches such as z. B. on the Riviera or endless, shallow sandy beaches such as z. B. on the Adriatic coast or on the Costa Brava, whether the island world of the Aegean Sea with all its mystical magic or islands such as Malta, Corsica and the Balearic Islands with its special scenery above and below water, whether the African mainland coast or, or, or…: all these parts of the Mediterranean Sea have a magical fascination on us Europeans.
Not least certainly also because in the countries that surround the Mediterranean, the cradle of our Western culture. The wanderings of Odysseus and the campaigns of conquest of the Roman Empire still inspire our fantasies.
